Winter Storm Fern
Tips to help during the storm
During an arctic blast the air can become cold enough to cause your sprinklers to freeze. Below are some tips to help.
- Conserve water usage where possible
- Do not open your tanks while there is standing Water Snow or Ice as there is a risk of electrical shock
- If the sprinklers to your septic system become frozen, you may pour warm (NOT HOT) water on your heads to thaw them out. Please be careful when doing this as the heads may spray you while you are standing out in this cold arctic air.
- If your alarm is going off it is likely due to the water not being able to get out of the system because of frozen sprinklers. You may mute the alarm (see our video on our YouTube channel for instructions). Please remember to return the alarm to normal operating mode after the winter storm ends.
- If your toilets begin to gurgle when flushing or won’t flush the water down the pipes stop all water usage until your system can be looked at by a trained professional.
- Lastly, never put yourself at risk in this extreme cold. If you cannot safely do any of the above, please wait out the winter storm to the best of your ability and we will be happy to help as soon as the roads are passible again.
